WWE Diva Maryse Ouellet is currently a diva on the WWE Smackdown roster, and has held the WWE Divas Championship. Her first appearance with WWE came several years ago at the 2006 WWE Diva Search. Maryse made it into the final 8 for the contest, but was the second diva contestant cut. Despite her early exit, WWE staff was impressed enough to invite her to their Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental facility. After observing the training sessions there for a week, Maryse was officially signed to a WWE contract on August 24, 2006. Her earliest assignments included sitting in the front row at television tapings, being a bikini contest participant, and appearing in backstage segments. In her first ever in-ring appearance, Maryse teamed up in OVW with familiar divas such as Kelly Kelly, Katie Lea and Alicia Fox to defeat a team which included Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes. From there Maryse worked as a backstage interviewer and wrestled in dark matches for OVW. Maryse worked as a valet for Sylvain Grenier at WWE House Shows, and also spent time in FVW (Florida Valley Wrestling), which included her accompanying Ted Dibiase Jr to a match where he won a FCW heavyweight championship.
WWE Diva Maryse promo videos began airing in late 2006, early 2007 on Smackdown. The short commercials included Maryse speaking in French and English welcoming viewers back to Smackdown. Maryse didn’t actually debut in the Smackdown ring as a heel diva wrestler until May 16, 2008, where she defeated Cherry. This came after Deuce ‘n Domino had dumped Cherry and replaced her with Maryse. The two feuded for several weeks which also included diva tag matches where Maryse partnered with Natalya and Victoria to face Cherry, Michelle McCool and Maria. Maryse began competing for the new WWE Divas Championship which Michelle McCool first won. Maryse lost in two different title fights against McCool (Unforgiven and Smackdown), before eventually beating McCool to become #1 Contender. On the following episode of Smackdown, 12/26/08, Maryse was able to defeat Michelle via pinfall with Maria as special guest referee. This began Maryse’s first WWE Divas Championship title reign. She’s competed with the likes of Maria and Eve Torres in the ring since becoming champ, and attacked WWE Diva Melina on an episode of Raw.
In addition to being one of the many beautiful WWE Divas, Maryse is also a French Canadian model, who was a former beauty pageant contestant, winning Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada 2003. She’s appeared in WWE Divas Magazine photo shoots and articles as well as Timbaland’s music video “Throw It On Me” featuring The Hives and several other WWE Divas. She also holds a degree in Business Administration and a black belt in martial arts.
Maryse uses a DDT finisher known as the “French Kiss” and her current theme music is “Porqoui?” by Jim Johnston featured on WWE the Music Volume 9.
