Rani Mukherjee is an actress who can be credited as the queen of bollywood, not only because of her first name which means ‘the Queen’ in Hindi and Bengali but also due to the kind of image that she had developed during all these years in the Indian film industry. She has won several awards including six Filmfare Awards for her brilliant performance in various movies.
Mukerji’s first release in 1998 was Ghulam opposite Aamir Khan, which did very well at the box office.Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) came next, starring superstars Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. Karan Johar first approached her for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai upon Shahrukh Khan’s recommendation.The movie was a blockbuster, and for her role in it she received her first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Her performances in "Saathiya" {2002}, "Yuva" {2004} and "Hum Tum" {2004} were widely appreciated and won her Filmfare Awards for Best Performance in each of the movies. Her great performance as a Pakistani lawyer in "Veer-Zaara" {2004} earned her a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nomination while winning several other awards. Then came her biggest movie, "Black" {2005} in which she gave an amazing performance excelling in the role of a deaf and blind girl.
