Vidya Balan
Vidya was born in a village of Kerala, India. Her father Mr.P.R. Balan is the Vice-President of ETC Channel and her mom is a home-maker. She has an elder sister, Priya.
When Vidya was very young ,the Balan family re-located to live at Bombay. She studied in St. Anthony's Convent School. She obtained a Masters degree in Sociology from Bombay University.
She studied and performed in Prithvi Theaters' workshops. Vidya learned Carnatic dance.
In her childhood days she was considerably overweight. She shed those extra weight when she elected for modeling and movies.
She got her first break with a Malyalam movie 'Chakram' opposite Mohanlal. She had to wait until 1998 to debut in a Surf Excel commercial. She then went on to appear in several commercials. She completed nearly 90 such ads.
She appeared in three music videos . She then also appeared in two TV serials Ekta Kapoor's 'Hum Paanch', and Ashok Pandit's 'Hanste Khelte'.

Then during 2006 Vidya was approached by Vidhu Vinod Chopra during a pop-concert in Mumbai to play a lead role in 'Parineeta'.
In 2009, Balan played the role of Vidya, in Paa. Amitabh Bachchan played Balan's son Auro. The film was a hit.
Balan next acted in the 2010 drama Ishqiya, a feature directed by first-timer Abhishek Chaubey and co-starring Naseeruddin Shah andArshad Warsi. Balan's role was that of Krishna Verma, a 30-year old widowed village woman.
Balan first release in 2011 was No One Killed Jessica. As of January 2011, Balan is scheduled to appear in Dirty Picture,based on the life and death of Indian actress Silk Smitha.
Apart from acting, Vidya occupies herself for supporting education for young Indians by promoting children's' books; as well as hosting forums and attending events for Harvard Aids Institute.
Vidya Balan never involved in any relationship or scandal. She us a devotee of Bhagwan Shri Sai Baba. She attend Mandirs every Thursday. She speaks English, Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil. After filming Parineeta (2005), can also speak Bengali.
